A Night at the Zoo!
Well last night was a bit more than just Ciara staying with us as Ronald McDonald house. We ended up being taken to the zoo in the back of a police van and being the first to see Dublin Zoo's new baby elephant! Only the Taoiseach and the Ambasador for India had seen it before us!!
It's an annual thing arranged by Dublin Zoo to get the kids from all the dublin children's hospitals out there after closing time. It was fantastic fun, Ciara was over the moon. After a day of torrential rain, it cleared up just as we got there and the sun came out. Perfect.
Ciara then stayed with us at the House for the night and had a kidney test today. Now we're back home.
Chemo over the last few days went well. Ciara wasn't sick once but she was being pretty well dosed with anti-sickness drugs. Personally I would like to see some visible effect to chemo so I know somethings actually happening but that might be a strange wish. She still has all her energy and has actually put on weight!
Our next session is around 5th July. She will be having a bone asperation at that point to see if her marrow is clear of cancer, as it was last asperation. If so then the stem cell harvesting can begin. A full staging test is going to happen around then to see if she's ready for surgery.

vonnie just told me about your blog and have just sat & read the whole thing. I must say you're doing a wondrous job of putting the whole situation into words, and it's great to have a way of keeping up with you guys. I'm so happy for you all that ciara's going to be a big sister too! life does tend to chuck everything at you at once, doesn't it, but at least this latest bit of news is a happy bit :)
