Scan results

Ciara's ultrasound and CT came up clear yesterday. Liver is working well but is still a big bruised lump. No visible signs of neuroblastoma either. Ciara was brilliant for both scans. The CT in particular must be very scary but she was very brave. Don't get be wrong, she didn't enjoy it but she stayed very still throughout.

There was a bit of a scare yesterday when we were asked a for a sample for a urinery catachelomines test . The nurses asked for the sample after the scans, so the initial thought was 'My God! What have they seen in the scans?'. It later transpired that the test was ordered before the scans and was all part of building a picture of Ciara's present state. Too late to avoid a major upset though but its not their fault. They need to do what they need to do without needing to calculate the effects on our imagination each procedure might have.

We will get those results today but we expect them to be normal.

Pie has told me you are thinking of giving up on the blog because you think no-one is reading it, please don't do that, I only just finished reading it myself and could probably become addicted. It perhaps helps you to cope with everything far more than you realise when you write things down.
I kept a diary when I had cancer, this was before I'd even heard of blogging but since I was at home on my own with a 6 month old and 22 month old most of the time, my diary became a prop of sorts, once I had written things down, they were dealt with and I could move on to the next problem. I hope this helps and doesn't sound too daft. I'll be keeping an eye on this so carry on posting.

I have read through EVERYTHING, and wow is all I can say. Your family is in my heart and my prayers as you go through this terrible time. I have a three year old girl myself, and while we have our share of trials and tribulations, I can not imagine what you are going through. Your little girl is absolutely gorgeous, and so STRONG! I am in total admiration for your whole family right now. Keep going, you can beat this! I am praying for you ever second of every day. BIG HUGS to your little girl!

Dear Elliott and all,

Please don't give up with the blog. We check it every day to see how Ciara's doing I'm sure we're not the only ones. Apart from it helping you cope with things, it's our way of keeping up to date with how she's doing. We are thinking of her always. I have told so many people about this blog and anyone that's read it thinks it's great and would make a great book to help other families unfortunate enough to be going through what you guys are. Please keep it up, and give Ciara our best wishes. Hope all is well with Yvonne and the imminent new arrival too.

Take care,

Gillian & co xxxx
